Aidorian

by Fiona Ewart

I wrote this tune for my older son because he is fascinated by different modal scales and got me interested too. I also enjoy playing French and Scandinavian folk dance tunes on my melodeon, such as the Bourrée. This tune should be played in a bourrée rhythm.

Fiona Ewart is originally from Australia, and has been living in the Newcastle upon Tyne for the last 25 years. She played piano and violin in her childhood and has always loved harmony and arranging music. She was introduced to folk music when she started going to the Sage Newcastle Tuesday night Folkworks sessions 15 years ago and has been playing folk music ever since. She now plays melodeon in a folk quartet called Scalpay, and in the Phoenix Chamber Folk Ensemble.
