Spey

by Jane Williams

Here’s a tune with a Scottish flavour, as the title suggests. I wrote for our whistle group in Swansea, which was a group of friends who used to meet every Saturday to have fun with all things whistle and recorder. It is also a song with two sets of lyrics, one comic and the other romantic.

Originally from the UK, Jane now lives and works in Norway. She grew up with and around folk music and started composing very early on. Her influences are all the greats from the 70’s and 80’s. Jane’s main instrument is guitar and she also plays harp, fiddle, keyboard and whistle. She lives in Tromsø in the far north of Norway and is part of a lively folk group which performs regularly for tourists and events.
