Loren’s Jig

by Jane Williams

This is a tune from the Swansea Whistle Group days in memory of Lorens. (Although he wasn’t a whistler,) Lorens was very active in the Welsh language scene. He lived and taught in Japan for a while and was responsible for introducing Welsh to Japan. The tune has a couple of differences, a bit like Lorens himself.

Originally from the UK, Jane now lives and works in Norway. She grew up with and around folk music and started composing very early on. Her influences are all the greats from the 70’s and 80’s. Jane’s main instrument is guitar and she also plays harp, fiddle, keyboard and whistle. She lives in Tromsø in the far north of Norway and is part of a lively folk group which performs regularly for tourists and events.
